Gloucester has one tower block, and the planning committee has agreed it can come down. Gloucester City Homes says families are now 'a step closer' to new affordable homes. Elsewhere, Costco has put a date on its Eastern Avenue opening, and Kingsholm has a Friday night against Bordeaux-Begles. Below: a run of nights at the Guildhall, half-term dates, pumpkins at Cotswold Farm Park, and a weekend that looks clear and cool.

Weather
A damp, mild start and a clear, cooler finish. Monday and Tuesday are the wet ones, drizzle setting in properly on Tuesday, with afternoons still up around 19°C, which is warm for mid October. Wednesday breaks it with a dry day under grey skies, Thursday carries a fair chance of a shower, and the change comes on Friday: still overcast, but only 15 at best and single figures first thing. The weekend is the pick, clear and calm on Saturday, partly cloudy on Sunday, both topping out at 12 with nights down near 5, so a coat rather than a jacket for anything early.
