Who we are. The Fold is a set of free weekly local newsletters: The Cheltenham Fold, The Gloucester Fold and the towns that join them. It is run by Nathan Lightbody, who is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. For anything about your details, email [email protected].
What we keep, and why
Your email address, so we can send you the newsletter you signed up for. We send it only after you confirm your address by clicking the link in our first email. That confirmation is your consent, and you can take it back at any time with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every issue.
When and where you signed up (the page or link you used), so we know how readers find us.
Whether you open an issue and which links you click. Our email service records this. We look at it to see which parts of the newsletter are useful and to shape future issues. We do this because it helps us make a better newsletter, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Your answer if you vote in an issue's poll, for the same reason.
Anything you send us: a reply, a question, or an item for the newsletter. If you send something to be published, we may use it, edited for length, in an issue. The tools that help put the issue together may process it, including AI tools that help write and check the copy. A person reads every issue before it is sent.
Visits to our web pages: which pages are viewed and which link brought the visitor. If this uses cookies that aren't needed to run the site, the cookie banner lets you choose.
Who handles your details for us
beehiiv sends our emails and hosts our web pages. It is based in the United States, so your details are transferred there under the safeguards UK law requires.
Google Workspace receives your replies and emails to us.
We never sell your details. Sponsors never receive your email address.
How long we keep them. Your email address stays while you're subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we keep only what's needed to make sure we don't email you again. Replies and items you send us are kept for up to two years.
Your rights. You can ask to see the details we hold about you, to have them corrected or deleted, or to stop any use of them. Email [email protected] and we'll reply within a month. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes. If this notice changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
